Howell Mountain, AVA

This coveted appellation owes its distinctive climate to the fact that it is positioned well above the valley floor and known for its rich Cabernet Sauvignons. Although it gets nearly twice as much rainfall as the valley below, the soil tends to be dry, due to rocky, porous conditions that allows for drainage and less moisture accumulation. This helps produce fruit with a great balance between acidity and sugar, creating a complexity of flavors in the award-winning wines from this appellation.
